Settings

To access the Settings dialog, click the Settings icon in the left sidebar.

System Configuration

Automated Workflow

In the Settings dialog, select the menu Automated Workflow.

Auto-Formatting: automatically format the current model if you change something.
Auto-save: automatically saves the current model in a predefined period. The latest auto-saved version is restored after the restart of the application.
Auto-validation: automatically validates the current model in a predefined period. The validation information is displayed in the Notifications dialog.

Editor

In the Settings dialog, select the menu Editor.

Use "hierarchical" layout: aligns all elements below the root Aspect.
Display disambiguation labels: displays labels on relationship connections whose meaning would otherwise be ambiguous:
- input / output on the connections from an Operation to its Properties,
- left / right on the connections from an Either Characteristic to its Characteristics,
- not in payload on the connection from an Entity to a Property that has notInPayload set (only possible for Entities used by an Enumeration).
  
  Changing this setting immediately redraws the connections of the open model.
Dark mode: switches the editor and the graph canvas to a dark color theme. You can also toggle the theme directly with the sun/moon icon in the left sidebar.
Element order when saving: defines the order of the elements in the saved Turtle file (Order of the ESMF SDK formatter, Keep order, insert new elements after their parent or Keep order, append new elements at the end). See Keep the structure of TTL files.
Restore open models on start (desktop app only): reopens the workspace models of the last session with their window size and position. See Restore the last session.

Model Configuration

Language settings

In the Settings dialog, select the menu Languages.

Under User Interface, choose the display language of the Aspect Model Editor itself (currently English or Chinese).

Under Aspect Model, define for which languages the description and the preferredName attributes for elements should be displayed.

Element attributes can only be added for the languages defined in your settings.

For each language defined in the settings you will later get an entry field, as shown in the example property.

Importing a model automatically imports all languages existing in the respective model but never deletes a language.

All attributes of each element in a specific language will be deleted without a way to restore them, when deleting this language from your settings. Make sure to save your model before deleting languages in your settings.

Namespaces setting

In the Settings dialog, select the menu Namespaces.

Edit the current namespace and check the supported version of the underlying SAMM Aspect Meta Model, the current Aspect’s namespace as well as the predefined namespaces. For more information, see Namespaces (SAMM 2.2.0).

Header/Copyright setting

In the Settings dialog, select the menu Header/Copyright.

Edit or add a header to be used with the Aspect Model. Every line must start with #. The header is written at the top of new models; models loaded from a file keep the header of that file, see Keep the structure of TTL files.
